Assistant Accountant

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our clients team in Milton Keynes. This role involves managing accounts payable transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting various accounting functions to ensure smooth financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure accurate process and system information flow, liaising with shared services, IT, and other providers.
  • Manage the Fixed Assets register and coordinate with the CFO on assets.
  • Conduct training sessions for new joiners on our finance system and act as a single point of contact for invoicing, purchase requests, and accounts payable queries.
  • Oversee the Intercompany process, reconciling variances, approving invoices, and posting accruals.
  • Fulfill legal reporting requirements to avoid fines and protect the brand's reputation.
  • Assist in decisions regarding liquidity, currency risks, and financial feasibility.
  • Prepare monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, query variances, and collate commentary for management approval.
  • Ensure internal control processes meet audit and compliance requirements.
  • Develop back-up knowledge of Accounts Receivables topics to support team members during absences.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in Accounts Payables and reconciliations processes.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, PowerBI, and presentations.
  • SAP experience and familiarity with multiple IT systems are beneficial.
  • Experience working with a larger co. or shared service centre is advantageous.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to provide credible information and draw sound conclusions.
  • Excellent prioritization and deadline management abilities.
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement and problem-solving.
  • Effective communication skills.
