Corporate & Business Tax Assistant Manager

Up to £55,000 dependent on experience

AJ Chambers are proud to be representing a top 40 firm, who are seeking a Corporate & Business Tax Assistant Manager to join their team in Milton Keynes Area.

They work with businesses and individuals and provide a quality, personalised service with high levels of expertise across all aspects of audit, accountancy, tax, and financial planning. They have the technical knowledge and excellence, but also aim to give their clients practical options, and always make complex issues easy to understand. The secret to the success is a commitment to deliver only the best for their clients and to exceed their expectations from initial contact and throughout the relationship.

What is your job role?

  • Reviewing statutory accounts, adjusting for tax sensitive figures, finalising and submitting company tax returns
  • Reviewing / preparing income tax computations and returns for sole traders and partnerships from accounts prepared internally
  • Reviewing / preparing personal tax returns
  • Reviewing / preparing forms P11Ds, PSAs, CIS returns and ERS returns
  • Generally managing the corporate and personal compliance process and dealing with client communications and responding to ad hoc queries as appropriate
  • Dealing with HMRC enquiries on factual matters relating to tax returns
  • Development and training of junior staff
  • As your role develops you will have an opportunity to become involved in tax planning and advice to your own portfolio.

What qualifications/Skills are needed?

  • CTA Qualification (Essential)
  • Minimum 3-4 years of experience working within a tax practice
  • Good understanding of corporate and personal tax legislation and comfortable in applying technical knowledge in practice
  • Able to work without the need for constant supervision
  • Able to show initiative in dealing with clients’ affairs whilst operating within the firm’s prescribed risk management framework
  • Can take responsibility for monitoring their own time and budgets
  • Experienced and flexible team worker with both colleagues and directors/ partners
  • Client service focused, responds proactively and positively to the demands of a growing team
  • Good computer skills including a sound knowledge of Word & Excel are required
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
