This is an interesting and fast-paced role where you’ll play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our diverse teams, including Property and Environment, Finance and Resources, Legal and Governance, IT and Customer Services. You’ll forge robust partnerships with leaders in these teams, ensuring they’re well equipped to support our community's diverse needs, and help them to foster an environment of respect, inclusion, and collaboration.
We’re looking for an ambitious person with commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach, able to drive the delivery of cost-effective solutions that do not compromise on quality or efficiency.Â
You’ll be a graduate CIPD member or hold a relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience. You must have up to date knowledge of employment law and best practice, and knowledge and appreciation of core employment policies and practices to enable the training and coaching of others.

Main Responsibility- Deliver sustainable workforce interventions across a range of professional groups in a highly pressurised operational environment.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the division, leading a small of team of dedicated Human Resources (HR) professionals, providing valued and effective coaching and guidance in relation to all people challenges and opportunities.
- Working as part of an established HR team, you will collaborate with others to ensure our service offers added value and provides guidance to line managers with regards to performance management issues whilst ensuring we remain compliant with employment legislation.
- Line manage, coach and develop a flexible and resilient team of HR professionals, ensuring performance delivery is at a high-quality level.
- Contribute professional expertise to the development and implementation of the Council wide HR People Plan.
- Extensive demonstrable HR experience with in-depth knowledge and experience of case work and change management initiatives and evidenced extensive experience of handling employee relation issues.
- Extensive demonstrable knowledge of employment law.
- Demonstrable experience of working with senior managers and in a business partner model.
- Evidence of being a flexible, highly motivated self-starter, capable of working autonomously and also in a team.
- Demonstrable influencing skills and ability to positively challenge across all levels of the organisation, particularly at a senior level.
- Evidence of having excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing combined with strong interpersonal, consultative skills, with the ability to form effective working relationships with a wide range of audiences.
- Evidence of previous line management and leadership skills.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
