Job Description:

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Residential Support Worker to join our team in Milton Keynes. In this role, you will provide essential care and support to children and young people in a residential setting, helping them to feel safe, valued, and empowered. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day care and support to children and young people, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.
  • Assist with personal care tasks, meal preparation, and daily activities, fostering independence and life skills.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment, promoting positive behaviors and managing challenging situations effectively.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individual care plans tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Support children with their education and extracurricular activities, encouraging their personal development.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with the children, offering emotional support and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided and any significant events, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
  • Participate in sleep-in shifts as part of a rota, ensuring the children are cared for throughout the night.

Requirements:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent (or willingness to work towards it) is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in a residential or similar setting is advantageous.
  • A caring and empathetic nature, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and sleep-ins.
