Dunbar Education is excited to kick off the New Year with a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated 1:1 Special Educational Needs (SEN) Specialist to join a welcoming school in Milton Keynes. This role offers the chance to support learners with additional needs, aged between 6 and 9 years, in ensuring their educational, emotional, and social development within a supportive environment.

About the School

This special educational needs school in Milton Keynes caters to learners aged 2 to 19 with complex needs, including profound learning difficulties. The school provides personalized support to ensure each learner's academic and social development. Staff work closely with learners to create a supportive learning environment, promoting independence, confidence, and social interaction for long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support to a student with SEN, assisting with learning, behavioural, and social development.
  • Implement individualised learning plans in collaboration with the SENCO and teaching staff.
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and safe learning environment.
  • Monitor and track progress, adapting approaches to meet the student's needs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with primary-aged children with Special Educational Needs, ideally in a 1:1 capacity.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and a patient, empathetic approach.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant SEN qualifications or training.
