Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with Autism? Do you thrive in a dynamic and supportive environment? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision setting, providing tailored support to students with Autism.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who require additional support in their learning journey. You will assist in developing individualised learning plans, implementing sensory strategies, and promoting a nurturing and structured environment. This role requires patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting the diverse needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to students with Autism.
  • Implement and adapt learning strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviours using positive reinforcement techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic development.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
About You:
  • Experience working with children with Autism, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A compassionate and resilient approach to supporting students with SEN.
  • Knowledge of autism-friendly teaching strategies and communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, visual supports).
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students and colleagues.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND qualification) is desirable but not essential.
