About the Role:
My client are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join their team, specialising in the estimation and costing of educational refurbishment projects. You will be working on projects with values up to £10 million, ensuring that costs are accurately forecasted and managed throughout the lifecycle of each project. This role offers the opportunity to work on various educational buildings, contributing to creating safe, modern, and efficient learning environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed cost estimates for educational refurbishment projects, including materials, labour, and other project-related costs.

Conduct comprehensive analysis of project specifications, drawings, and documents to accurately assess project scope and prepare budgets.

Monitor project costs and ensure that estimates are in line with client budgets and project requirements.

Lead the preparation of tender submissions, ensuring all pricing and documentation is accurate and competitive.

Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes for materials and services

Review and assess contractor tenders, ensuring compliance with project requirements and contractual obligations.

Identify potential cost risks early in the project and implement risk management strategies.

Apply value engineering principles to find cost-effective solutions without compromising the quality or specifications of educational refurbishment works.

Maintain clear and effective communication with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring that all parties are aligned on project costs, timelines, and expectations.

Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of estimating, tendering, and project costing.

Utilize your deep understanding of the unique requirements and regulations related to educational refurbishment projects, ensuring that all cost estimates comply with educational facility standards.

Understand the needs of various stakeholders, including schools, local authorities, and educational bodies, to deliver cost-effective and high-quality refurbishments.

Experience in estimating facade and cladding works, ensuring these elements are accurately priced and integrated into the overall project costings.

Evaluate facade and cladding design elements, considering materials, installation, and performance requirements.

Conduct site visits as necessary to assess the condition of existing buildings and refine cost estimates based on actual site conditions.

Collaborate with project managers and site teams to ensure that estimates are aligned with project delivery timelines and on-site realities.
Requirements:

Proven experience as an Estimator, with a strong background in estimating educational refurbishment projects.

Excellent knowledge of construction materials, methods, and the UK building regulations, specifically related to educational facilities.

Experience working on projects up to £10 million in value.

Familiarity with the complexities of educational refurbishment, including classroom upgrades, building safety, and accessibility requirements.

Strong IT skills, including proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal teams and external stakeholders effectively.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Experience with facades and cladding would be an advantage but not essential.
Desirable Skills:

A background in facades and cladding estimation would be beneficial, as these elements can form an integral part of refurbishment projects.

Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB is advantageous.
