Respiratory Physiotherapist (Band 6)Location: SomersetSalary: £37,338 - £39,405Full-time: 37.5 hours per weekMeridian Business Support is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Physiotherapist to join our client based in Somerset, dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals with respiratory conditions. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact within our Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Home Oxygen Assessment services.Job Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provide educational sessions to empower patients in managing their long-term health conditions and making informed decisions about their care.
  • Encourage and support behaviour change strategies like smoking cessation, home exercise regimes, and improved adherence to medications and oxygen therapy.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to reduce hospital admissions and ensure timely assessments, supporting patients in their own homes whenever possible.
  • Carry out non-medical prescribing duties, liaising with GPs and Pharmacists as needed.
  • Support the clinical lead in delivering Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Home Oxygen Assessment services.
  • Manage and prioritise patient care to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Provide advice and instruction to patients, families, carers, and other professionals, fostering health and well-being.
  • Maintain and enhance personal knowledge and competency through CPD and training.
  • Develop and regularly review patient information and documentation that accounts for cultural diversity and communication needs.
  • Ensure a safe treatment environment by conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Complete enhanced risk assessments and safety interventions for Pulmonary Rehabilitation and oxygen therapy.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records through electronic medical systems.
  • Contribute to service audit and evaluation, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Undertake oxygen assessments for long-term and ambulatory therapy, in accordance with National Guidelines.

Key Qualifications & Experience:
  • Qualified and registered physiotherapist or similar qualification and experience
  • Experience in respiratory medicine with specialist clinical assessment skills
  • Ability to drive and access to a car for business purposes
  • Mentorship/teaching skills to support colleagues and patients
  • Computer literacy and confidence with Microsoft Office packages (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Training and educational skills to develop and deliver sessions effectively
  • A demonstrable track record of achievement in your field
  • Evidence of continual professional development and training to meet registration revalidation requirements
