Permanent position
Full time hours 40 hours Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm are core hours of business where you would need to be in the office
Location: Mirfield
Salary: £40,000 per annum + 10 % annual bonus
You must have worked in a COMAH based environment to be considered for this role
The Role
The EHS Advisor will support the EHS Manager in delivering site safety and compliance objectives while fostering a strong safety culture. This role will provide expert EHS knowledge and advice, working closely with Production and Engineering teams to implement improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with statutory and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide EHS support services, offering professional knowledge, guidance, and advice to department managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Advise on legislation and internal EHS management systems, ensuring site teams are well-informed.
- Lead site safety reviews, inspections, audits, and accident/incident investigations.
- Drive improvements in safety culture, supporting risk management and accident reduction initiatives.
- Develop and implement EHS programs, systems, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal standards and external regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments, audits, and ensure that corrective actions are prioritized and monitored.
- Provide EHS expertise to site projects, ensuring health, safety, and environmental considerations are integrated.
- Act as a Group Risk Lead for Human Factors Programs.
- Identify and support operational training needs, assisting in the preparation and delivery of safety training.
Academic Background & Experience Required
- Certificate-level qualifications in Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Management (or equivalent) essential. Diploma highly preferred.
- Certificate-level qualifications in Process Safety Management.
- Detailed understanding of COMAH and experience in a COMAH-regulated environment.
- In-depth knowledge of current and upcoming Safety, Health & Environmental legislation essential.
- Science or Engineering degree highly desirable.
- Understanding of Human Factors principles and practical implementation experience.
- Human Factors practitioner-level qualification or working towards it.
Key Skills & Attributes
- Proven ability to generate, monitor, and improve KPIs.
- Strong experience in incident investigation, evidence gathering, resolution, and reporting.
- A practical and proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring proportionate and effective risk management.
- Ability to influence and guide an EHS agenda within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent coaching and support skills to assist management and supervisors in meeting EHS requirements.
Key Performance Indicators
- Successful support of the UK EHS Manager and progress of all EHS programs as planned.
- Effective delivery of project objectives and continuous improvement targets.
