As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and management of mechanical systems for wastewater and clean water projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects that meet technical, safety, and budgetary requirements.
Project Engineer Key Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee mechanical systems for wastewater and clean water treatment facilities, including pumps, motors, filtration systems, piping, and HVAC.
- Develop mechanical system specifications, layouts, and schematics for water treatment plants.
- Work with the project team to prepare project budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
- Ensure that mechanical designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of mechanical components and materials.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring proper functionality and efficiency.
- Provide technical support to the project team and troubleshoot mechanical issues during design and construction.
- Review and approve mechanical system designs and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that mechanical systems are being installed according to design specifications.
- Support health, safety, and environmental practices on-site and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Project Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in wastewater or clean water projects.
- Solid understanding of mechanical design, including HVAC, pumps, valves, piping systems, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software.
- Familiarity with water treatment technologies, such as filtration, disinfection, and chemical dosing systems.
- Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, AWWA, ANSI).
- Experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to project sites.
