An amazing newly created opportunity has arisen for a fast paced growing SME situated on the Essex / Herts border. The Financial Controller is someone who can work collaboratively as a team player, and is able to easily build and maintain strong working relationships and is able to lead by example.

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the finance team and overseeing all financial reporting, providing critical analysis, guidance, and support to department managers and the Board.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Manage month-end close processes, including accruals and deferred income.
  2. Produce monthly management accounts and departmental finance reports.
  3. Collaborate with department managers to identify areas for efficiency improvements and enhanced financial performance.
  4. Engage and develop the Finance Team in alignment with company needs.
  5. Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, CIS, corporation tax) with external advisor support.
  6. Oversee external audits.
  7. Manage the integration of clients from M&A activities.
  8. Assist the Finance Director with budgeting, financial modeling, and process improvements.
Skills Required:
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Proactive, analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.


Experience:

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Proven experience as a Finance Manager or Controller.
Experience in a fast-paced SME environment; service industry experience is beneficial.
Excellent knowledge of accounting/ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics).
Strong skills in MS Excel; good knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
