About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Youth Justice Social Worker to join Sutton Youth Justice Team. This role is pivotal in supporting young people who have been involved in the criminal justice system and working towards reducing reoffending and promoting positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of young people subject to post-court orders or in custody, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, maintaining case notes, and initiating breach proceedings when necessary.

  • Represent the Youth Justice Team in court, preparing and delivering high-quality court reports and making recommendations.

  • Conduct holistic assessments of children and their families, developing intervention plans tailored to their needs.

  • Perform risk assessments and collaborate with families and victims to promote safer communities and reduce the likelihood of reoffending.

  • Support children on the periphery of criminalisation through early intervention and preventative measures, working closely with their families to provide guidance and support.

About You

We are looking for a passionate and committed professional who thrives on making a positive impact on young people's lives. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with vulnerable young people and families, using a trauma-informed approach to encourage behavioural change.

  • Possess strong engagement skills, particularly with young people resistant to intervention, and demonstrate innovative approaches to building trust and relationships.

  • Be highly organised, with the ability to produce detailed assessments and reports to a high standard in line with statutory guidelines.

  • Be a team player, willing to support colleagues and contribute to the success of the wider service.

About Us

Sutton Youth Justice Team operates with a child-first approach, working closely with adolescents and their families to improve life chances and prevent reoffending. The service works alongside the Adolescent Service, using a trauma-informed methodology to foster trust and facilitate behavioural change.

As a valued member of our small but dynamic team, you will benefit from:

  • Access to a range of specialist workers, including an in-house CAMHS worker, Speech and Language Therapist, School Nurse, Substance Misuse Worker, and Education Worker.

  • The support of a Therapeutic Hub, offering additional expertise and interventions.

  • Regular group supervisions and a well-structured training programme to support ongoing professional development.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Youth Justice Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact while benefiting from strong team support and development opportunities.
