Business Support Officer (Childrens Services) - Local Authority

Location: SM4 5DX, Hybrid working - 3 days office based
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ months
Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 09:00 - 17:00, 35 hours per week
Pay Rate: 16.82 per day

We are seeking a Business Support Officer to join our clients dynamic team in the Children's Social Care & Youth Justice Division. You will provide essential administrative, operational, and practical support to ensure the smooth running of services for children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality administrative and financial support to managers, social workers, and teams across the Division.
  • Organise and attend meetings, including preparing agendas, taking minutes, and distributing documents.
  • Assist in managing office systems, ordering supplies, and maintaining records.
  • Provide practical support, such as transporting children and families or delivering items to homes.
  • Administer various IT systems and maintain accurate client records, including processing applications and conducting statutory checks.
  • Support social workers and practitioners by helping arrange appointments and coordinating communications with children, families, and external agencies.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a similar role within the Local Authority.
  • Strong administrative skills, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • IT proficient, with advanced skills in using databases, MS Office, and other relevant software.
  • Flexibility to support team members and cover different areas across the Division as needed.
  • A commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young people, and their families.
