Meraki Talent are exclusively supporting with the appointment of a permanent Payroll & Finance Assistant based in Musselburgh with a salary of £30,000 - £35,000 plus a bonus potential of up to £4,000. The Company

This is a highly performing, and established business that operates both domestically, and internationally. The business is on a path of modernisation, and is restructuring finance hence the creation of a newly created Payroll & Finance Assistant position.

Role Overview

The position of Payroll & Finance Assistant will work alongside the Finance Manager and Financial Controller. The role requires an individual that is capable of taking full end to end ownership of two monthly payrolls for over 70 employees.

The business will then happily invest time and resource to upskill the capabilities of the successful candidate to provide experience and exposure to complete transactional finance, month-end duties and data analytic tasks.

Payroll Duties & Responsibilities

  • Start to finish ownership and processing of two monthly payrolls for over 70 employees
  • Responsible for all payroll compliance - PAYE, NIC, SSP, SMP, holiday pay, tax codes, student loans etc.
  • HMRC returns and submissions including RTI
  • Overtime management & analysis
  • Employee database management including starters & leavers
  • Annual holiday allowance management & scheduling

Future FinanceDuties & Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and developing processes, procedures, controls & systems
  • Transactional finance - invoicing
  • Bank account management & reconciliations
  • BACs payments
  • Assisting with month-end

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an individual capable of taking ownership of an end to end payroll including processing, compliance and legislation.

The payroll duties aren’t enough to justify a full-time position alone, so it’s imperative that the successful candidate has an appetite to widen their experience and exposure to include BAU finance.

Required Skills & Experience

  • End to end payroll processing and legislation experience including ability to perform manual calculations
  • Sage Payroll experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

The role is based in Musselburgh, and will offer:

  • £30,000 - £35,000 base salary
  • Bonus scheme - up to £4k potential
  • 30 days holiday including bank holidays
