The Details:

  • Salary: £43,000 - £45,000 Per Annum (depending on experience)
  • Location: Unit C, Larkfield Industrial Estate, New Hythe Lane, Aylesford ME20 6SW
  • Days: Tuesday - Saturday (as per business requirements)

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading Operations at Scale: Oversee and optimize the distribution and sortation of up to 1,000 parcels a week, ensuring seamless operations that serve 610 retailers with the timely delivery of newspapers and magazines. Manage a trunking operation that services 12 strategic locations, delivering consistently high performance and reliability across the network.
  • Driving Performance & Excellence: Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operations to maximize efficiency, ensuring all activities are aligned with customer expectations and performance KPIs.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, motivate, and support your operational team by providing guidance, training, and continuous development to ensure they meet and exceed targets.
  • Customer-Centric Operations: Build strong relationships with both internal and external customers, acting as the operational point of contact to deliver exceptional service and maintain trust.
  • Compliance & Safety Leadership: Ensure that operational standards meet or exceed all regulatory requirements, with a focus on Health & Safety compliance, operational best practices, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the General Manager to identify areas for improvement, driving operational performance, optimizing resources, and continuously enhancing processes.
  • Resource Management & Coordination: Oversee the effective use of driver and vehicle resources, while coordinating site maintenance to ensure operational readiness and compliance.
  • Travel Flexibility: Occasional travel to other sites may be required to ensure consistency and high standards across locations.

  • Health & Safety Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety protocols and a commitment to ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Leadership Acumen: Proven track record of successfully managing and developing teams, with a focus on driving performance and fostering a collaborative work culture.
  • Operational Excellence: Strong experience in managing logistics operations, including distribution, sortation, and trunking, with a focus on exceeding customer expectations.
  • Budget & Project Management: Adept at managing budgets, controlling costs, and executing complex projects to improve operational efficiency.
  • Organizational Mastery: Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple initiatives with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Customer-Focused Mindset: Exceptional communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and customers.
