The Opportunity

Thompson & Terry Recruitment are working alongside one of our super friendly and value-led Newbury-based clients who are looking to recruit an HR Consultant to join their team.

As HR Consultant, every day will be really varied as you will be working with a wide range of small businesses across Newbury and South Oxfordshire to support their ongoing HR needs, therefore it is important the successful candidate enjoys this challenge.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for managing the full HR cycle from being the first point of contact for incoming HR queries both via email and the telephone, but also regularly visiting your clients to work closely with managers and employees to provide effective and accurate HR support.

This role will involve working with individuals in a number of sectors and can range from providing one-off support to advising on company-wide restructures or creating new HR initiatives (e.g. improving benefits packs or outlining clear documentation on company culture), therefore it is vital that the successful candidate is adaptable and quick to learn.

Whilst the role is really varied, and you will be working with your clients on the full HR cycle, employee relations is a big part of the role therefore it is vital the successful HR Consultant must be confident to professionally regularly manage tricky situations within HR best practice.

Requirements

  • Experience of working within an HR job and working on employee relations cases with the strong desire to continue learning within in a varied and rewarding long-term job
  • A strong attention to detail and highly organised with the ability to manage a complex workload and work on a number of projects at one time
  • An excellent telephone manner and fantastic verbal and written communication skills???
  • A real team player, who is commercially aware?and able to 'wear many hats’
  • Due to the nature of the role, willingness to travel to local clients and a full UK Driving License with access to your own vehicle is essential
