IBP are currently recruiting for a Plant and Fleet Controller based in Bristol. This is a key role within the Plant & Fleet Department, and you will be responsible for working on the day-to-day operation within your specific region. Using information provided by the team, you will plan and manage your own workload ensuring efficient and effective use of the time available, this will involve travelling within the region and will require the holder to take full ownership of tasks assigned to them.

The Plant and Fleet controller role will be predominantly field based within the South-West corridor covering M5 / M4 region – or by regional requirement agreed by Plant & Fleet Manager.

The main duties include but are not limited to: 

  • Monitor and report on compliance within the region.
  • Actively engage with underperforming drivers and work to raise safety standards and improve driving behaviours.
  • Control new driver inductions, equipment, and vehicle issue
  • Control all vehicle issues & returns, recording all data within Fleet platform.
  • Manage all vehicle defects, minimise VOR Downtime and ensure reporting system is updated.
  • Ensuring all Assets & Vehicles are kept in a safe and legal condition to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Monitor performance in line with company procedures, policies, and rules, and to challenge any non-conformity where necessary.
  • Monitor the Realtime movements of the fleet using the latest Telematics software.
  • Ensure that our assets and equipment are maintained and tracked across the business, conducting safety inspections and auditing equipment.
  • Liaise with other Regions, Departments and Business functions and encourage a One Team approach.
  • Take on new assignments when required.
  • Provide assistance either in person or remotely to the other regions as business need dictates.

The Ideal candidate must possess the following skills and experience:

  • No two days can be the same, a level of flexibility and ownership will be required to allow you to respond and react to changing business needs.
  • Good communication skills – be able to confidently conversate at all levels.
  • Good technology skills.
  • Ability to interoperate and understand legislation. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • UK Driving licence – No more than 3 points. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role 
  • Happy to with the travel needed for the role.
