We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our Digital Services team. This role involves contributing to the successful delivery and maintenance of a wide-reaching data warehouse, crucial for our business-critical systems and processes. The ideal candidate will provide technical expertise, support the development of reporting systems, and ensure compliance with industry data standards.

Data Engineer

  • Annual Salary: £38,000 - £44,000 per annum
  • Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (once monthly office working)
  • Job Type: Full-time, permanent

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the delivery of a wide-reaching data warehouse and reporting system, including the use of dashboards.
  • Provide specialist advice on data metrics and standards, ensuring their accurate representation in the data warehouse.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of mandated datasets and statutory returns.
  • Collaborate with the Data Warehouse Manager to enhance data interpretation and reporting capabilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases and information systems.
  • Proficient in MS SQL Server, including SQL Server Management Studio, T-SQL, SSIS packages, and query tuning.
  • Experience with ETL processes and building functional dashboards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical advice in a clear, understandable manner.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a senior information role within an information management and technology department.
