Jackson Hogg is delighted to be recruiting for a Principal Engineer who specialises in the Mechanical & Electrical disciplines to join our client who operate within the rail industry. This role is full-time and permanent and will be based in Newcastle Upon Tyne, offering a hybrid working pattern. The ideal candidate will be degree qualified or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical discipline, and have extensive industry experience assessing the conditional of electrical an mechanical assets within infrastructure and public sectors which can be applied to the rail industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Take lead in assessing current conditions of assets across the Northeast
  • Develop and maintain maintenance, renewal and repair specification compliant with relevant legislative and industry standards.
  • Lead in undertaking audits, inspections and other activitiesaimed at evaluating compliance of the delivery units against standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical advice to internal teams and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Design and trial new systems and equipment.
  • Supervisory experience and checking of others' work.

Requirements:

  • Chartership status (advantageous)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent in a mechanical or electrical discipline
  • Obtain industry experience assessing the conditional of electrical an mechanical assets within infrastructure and public sectors which are transferrable withinthe rail industry.
  • Have excellent communication skills, decisionmaking and problem solving capability.
