The Unsecured Credit team are responsible for setting the groups new lending, account management, and collections strategies across credit cards, personal loans, and overdrafts. The team is ultimately accountable for deciding which customers we lend to, and how much we are willing to lend to them. Therefore, this team is central to VMs growth ambitions, whilst also ensuring our lending meets a customer's needs, remains within our risk appetite, and meets all regulatory requirements.  

What you'll be doing 

  • Demonstrating an appetite of searching and investigating the market for new innovative data solutions and technologies, working closely with 3rd parties to ensure provision of data to test initiatives. 
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders such as Credit Modelling, Commercial, and Technology to ensure ideas and solutions are driven to tangible outcomes. 
  • Managing and executing the entire end to end project delivery, drawing on colleagues across the wider team of strategy, insight, and oversight to resource specific initiatives depending on the expertise required. 
  • Leading and co-ordinating the wider credit risk team to drive forward innovation in credit strategies, insight techniques, and wider team goals and culture. 
  • Supporting Virgin Moneys growth ambitions through sustainable lending practices, whilst ensuring growth remains within our risk appetite framework. 
  • Remaining abreast of all industry, competitor, and market developments, utilising external data sources to provide benchmarking analysis where appropriate.  

We need you to have 

  • Demonstrable strong analytical experience, including comprehensive knowledge of SAS and SQL. 
  • Proven experience of building trusted relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders with an ability to condense and simplify complex information to all levels and audiences. 
  • The ability to influence change within a large organisation. 
  • Previous experience supporting multiple projects end to end in a fast-changing environment and the ability to prioritise effectively whilst managing various leadership expectations. 
  • Strong background within unsecured credit risk. 
  • Skilled in developing strategies in a consumer lending organisation. 
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK lending market, particularly within the credit cards and personal loans space.  

It's a bonus if you have but not essential 

  • Working knowledge of Python or R within an analytical or modelling environment. 
  • Experience working with the three UK credit reference agencies.
