We are currently recruiting a Group Finance Manager for a high growth business in Newcastle. You will play a critical role in the risk and control environment for the Group, managing a small team of Accountants.

Description

This role is a key position within the senior finance team, responsible for ensuring effective financial control, providing strategic insights, and supporting decision-making across the business. The scope of the role includes overseeing various financial processes, from cost management and budgeting to financial reporting and tax coordination. The role requires strong attention to detail, collaboration with multiple departments, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Implement policies and processes to maintain an effective control environment
  • Provide strategic, timely, and accurate management information for decision-making
  • Manage cost reviews and cost control efforts
  • Support FP&A in monthly business performance reviews with budget holders
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow forecasts, and KPI reporting
  • Consolidate the training business group on a monthly basis
  • Agree intercompany balances with other Group companies
  • Manage treasury functions and day-to-day cash flow planning
  • Coordinate with external advisors and support the Group Financial Controller on taxation matters (VAT, PAYE, NIC, and corporation tax)
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition, including deferred revenue and POA reconciliations
  • Review finance team work for accuracy, including invoices and month-end reconciliations
  • Maintain fixed asset register and ensure accurate depreciation calculations
  • Assist Group Financial Controller with capex monitoring and proposals
  • Ensure proper recording of goodwill and amortisation
  • Oversee monthly stock takes and ensure accurate stock movement records
  • Be flexible and take on additional tasks within the scope of the role when needed

Profile

Key qualifications include:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience
  • Sage 200 experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and finance systems (MS Outlook, Excel, Power BI)
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and numerate
  • Experience managing finance staff is a plus
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
