Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the health education curriculum to meet the needs of all students, ensuring it aligns with national or local standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership in designing and implementing engaging and evidence-based health education programs.
  • Set high expectations that challenge and motivate students to take responsibility for their health and well-being.
  • Promote positive outcomes for all pupils, ensuring inclusivity and access to high-quality learning opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of health education teachers, providing support and professional development.
  • Maintain and review curriculum resources, ensuring that materials are current, relevant, and effective.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as physical education and pastoral care, to deliver a holistic approach to student well-being.
  • Utilize assessment data to monitor progress and tailor learning strategies to support all students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour to create a positive, respectful, and productive environment.
  • Fulfil wider professional responsibilities within the Academy, including contributing to school-wide initiatives and participating in staff development programs.

We're Looking For Candidates Who:

  • Have a strong vocational background within the Health or Social Care sector and a proven track record of leading and managing teams.
  • Hold an honours degree (Level 6) or an industry-recognised qualification in Health, Social Care, or a related field.
  • Possess or are committed to achieving a post-16 teaching qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Hold Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (or be willing to attain them).
  • Have a proven track record of leading and managing teams to achieve KPIs with an emphasis on high-quality higher education provision.
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.
  • Build strong professional relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Are confident in using evidence-based pedagogy and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Possess excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Are passionate about developing students' health and well-being and expanding their subject knowledge.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the latest trends and developments in health education.
