We are currently seeking a Compliance Auditor to join our client, a prestigious legal firm, based in Newcastle city centre.

We are seeking an Internal Compliance Auditor to ensure our client's practices, records, and controls meet the highest standards of regulatory compliance and accreditation requirements. This role is integral to maintaining their commitment to quality and excellence.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Plan and conduct monthly quality audits on fee earners to verify compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments and evaluate internal controls, reporting any discrepancies.
  • Maintain a quality log for all audits, identifying trends and training needs.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to calibrate audits, implement best practices, and enhance performance.
  • Analyse historical data to develop quality improvement initiatives and strategies.
  • Evaluate audit findings and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions in conjunction with supervisors.
  • Manage firm-wide performance through effective communication and contributions to team meetings.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and quality standards, ensuring compliance.
  • Conduct both random and focused audits in a timely manner.
  • Prepare comprehensive quality reports for presentation to senior management, including all necessary documentation.
  • Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance and COLP with external audit preparations, accreditations, and compliance assessments.
  • Monitor and execute remedial actions following external audit recommendations.
  • Stay abreast of the latest sector regulations and best practices in internal auditing.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably within the legal sector.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Qualification in a related field is advantageous but not essential.
