We are currently seeking a diligent Compliance Officer to join our client, a prestigious legal firm, based in Newcastle city centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing end-to-end due diligence for our client, adhering to AML and ID guidance, policies, and procedures. This role is pivotal in enhancing client service, driving efficiencies, and ensuring the acquisition of lifelong clients.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Execute end-to-end due diligence processes in compliance with AML and ID guidance.
  • Obtain all necessary identification to meet and adhere to strict internal and external procedures and requirements.
  • Play a key role in enhancing client service and operational efficiencies.
  • Proactively monitor onboarding progress and maintain communication with relevant parties.
  • Liaise with the Head of Risk and Compliance regarding client ID issues and escalate matters when necessary.
  • Provide progress updates to partners, solicitors, and support teams.
  • Chase clients proactively to progress matters swiftly.
  • Open and create matters within the practice management system promptly.
  • Manage the Compliance mailbox and ensure internal procedures are followed.
  • Input data accurately into the practice management system and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Manage ongoing monitoring alerts for clients and report any concerns.
  • Uphold the firm’s policies and procedures, including health and safety, IT, security, and equality.
  • Be flexible to carry out additional tasks or projects as requested by the Head of Risk and Compliance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the legal sector.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence in using a case management system.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Driven to work towards and meet deadlines.
