Talent84 is delighted to be representing our client, a highly successful engineering organisation specialising in large-scale, complex electromechanical products with a global customer base, in their search for a Project Manager.

About the Role

Due to continued growth and contract wins, my client is seeking to add to their existing superb projects team with the appointment of a new Project Manager. Reporting to the Principal Project Manager, the Project Manager will be responsible for delivering outstanding project performance for their customers and stakeholders.

The Project Manager will have overall responsibility for the execution and delivery of assigned projects from cradle to grave, with a strong focus on quality, cost, and delivery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contributing to the control and reporting of the quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) performance for assigned projects, ranging from small to medium spares orders (~£100k) to key programmes (~£20m) within the defence sector.
  • To be the point of contact or be able to comfortably interact with the customer in the execution of assigned projects, possibly including travelling Worldwide to lead or facilitate face to face meetings.
  • Be able to create and maintain key project documents including but not limited to Project Management Plans, Project Schedule, Supplier Management Plans, Support Integration Plan, Project Risk Management Plans and Project Work Breakdown Structures including liaising with the customer and relevant functions to coordinate
  • In association with the Principal PM, manage and monitor project Identify and escalate any shortfall or opportunities.
  • Be able to produce clear, concise and accurate Reports, Minutes and Action
  • Generate RFQs and Requisitions for procurement of components for manufacture. This may include identifying, auditing and management of assigned suppliers potentially worldwide.
  • Identifying, escalating, and managing any matters that could pose a potential risk to the Principal Project Manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • To encourage/motivate others around them and to ensure companywide communication of the status/problems of their assigned projects.
  • To actively partake in the development and improvement of the Project Team in which they are a member.
  • Deputise for the Principal PM for internal/customer meetings
  • Supplier development and management.
About you

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained as a Project Manager working in a multidisciplinary engineering setting. A technical background is essential (i.e. be a degree qualified engineering professional), as the role requires the ability to confidently present technical issues/solutions to customers.

You MUST be prepared to travel international with occasional long stints in Australia ( 4 - 12 weeks).

Key selection criteria
  • Demonstrable project management experience.
  • Proven track record in the successful execution of technical projects.
  • Knowledge of heavy to medium manufacturing would be advantageous
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills and demonstrable collaborative behaviours
  • Sound business & commercial acumen,
  • High attention to detail.
  • The ability to balance QCD across a project and to engage in a pragmatic way with customers, internal stakeholders, and suppliers.
  • Have knowledge and experience of compliance with quality, health & safety and environmental standards.
  • IT literate must be proficient in using Excel.
  • Self-motivated and self-supporting.
  • Track record in performing well against agreed timelines, in a team environment with good people skills.
  • Confident in an external and internal customer facing environment.
  • You must be currently based in the UK or hold a UK Passport.
  • You must be able to attain a VISA for working in Australia.
