Sellick Partnership is delighted to be exclusively recruiting for a Director of NHS Pensions on behalf of the NHS Business Services Authority. The job will be based in the North East, with some travel required - the successful candidate can expect a Band 9 salary of between £105,385 - £121,271.

Main responsibilities of the Director of NHS Pensions:
- You will report into the COO providing strategic and technical expertise to deliver a performance focussed pensions service.
- You will work with unions, representative bodies, regulators, policy makers, and other key third party decision makers, influencers, and organisations.
- You will be responsible for a large and diverse pensions operation of circa 1,000 colleagues.
- This is a key role focussed on inspiring, developing and empowering senior and skilled operational and delivery colleagues within the NHS Pensions Service.
- Drive and optimise operational performance across the NHS Pensions Service, supporting the delivery of an ambitious growth strategy while ensuring robust financial and commercial governance controls are established and maintained.
- Ensure the NHS Pension Scheme complies with all relevant legislation and regulatory requirements, including the Pensions Regulator's codes of practice. Implement policies related to the NHS Pension Scheme, ensuring alignment with national regulations and best practices.
- Develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with external strategic partners.
Key accountabilities:
- Sharing accountability for shaping the overall strategic direction of the NHS Pensions Service, contributing to developing strategic business plans, driving and leading operational performance improvement to deliver cost-effective, high-quality services.
- Using proven commercial experience to develop business models to aid the transition of NHSBSA services into a high-performing, sustainable commercial model.
- Providing high-level transitional and operational direction ensuring efficient and high-quality delivery of the NHS Pensions Service meeting user and client needs to agreed and set standards and financial targets.
- Driving digital transformational change across the service to improve effectiveness and performance across the directorate.
- Working in close collaboration with colleagues in the Strategic Directorate to develop internal performance management systems to enable the organisation to adhere to and exceed plans, targets and standards.
- Developing a culture of appraisal, improvement and performance management to drive organisational success.
Person specification/experience required:
- Working at a senior level within a service delivery organisation, leading and delivering performance excellence, services growth and development across the directorate to meet both customer and business needs.
- A strong leader and strategic thinker with the ability to navigate regulatory environments.
- Senior operational leadership experience at a high-performing organisation.
- Leading and delivering digital transformational change across a large portfolio.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, inspiring and motivating teams to be high-performing.
- The ability to manage complex and muti-faceted project plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret, evaluate and summarise complex information.
- Delivering and developing business improvement plans, KPIs and business planning.
- Developing a customer focussed, quality-driven culture, translating organisational strategy into service deliverables.
- Building successful and long-standing relationships with a wide range of external and internal stakeholders and providing mutually agreed solutions to business issues.
