About Us:Randstad is proud to partner with the Children in Care and Care Leavers Team in Newcastle to recruit an experienced and compassionate Social Worker. This role is vital in supporting children and young people who are in care or transitioning to independent living, ensuring they have the necessary support, guidance, and opportunities for success.

Job Description:As a Social Worker in the Children in Care and Care Leavers Team, you will work closely with children, young people, and care leavers to provide ongoing support, helping them navigate their transition from care into independence. You will manage a caseload, develop personalized care plans, and coordinate with various agencies to ensure the well-being of each individual.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children in care and care leavers, providing them with emotional and practical support.
  • Develop and implement care plans that focus on the health, education, and future aspirations of young people.
  • Work closely with foster carers, residential staff, and external agencies to ensure that children and young people are receiving appropriate care and support.
  • Assist care leavers in preparing for independent living, including accessing housing, education, employment, and life skills development.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of children and care leavers in multi-agency meetings and court proceedings.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Experience in working with children in care or care leavers, or similar statutory social work roles.
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, leaving care services, and relevant policies.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and support young people.
