We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to work one-on-one with a Year 4 pupil exhibiting challenging behaviour at a Primary School in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide tailored support to a Year 4 pupil with SEMH needs, helping them navigate their educational and emotional challenges.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and address challenging situations calmly and constructively.
  • Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and build a trusting relationship with the pupil to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track the pupil’s progress, adapting strategies and interventions to meet their evolving needs.
  • Resource Preparation: Develop and prepare resources that cater to the pupil’s specific learning and emotional needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCos, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil’s support.
  • Parental Engagement: Maintain open communication with parents and carers, providing regular updates on the pupil’s progress and strategies to support them at home.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs support. Team Teach/MAPA are desirable. 
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
