Reed Education are proud to be supporting a Primary Academy in the Sunderland area with their recruitment of a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a child with Special Needs.

This role is to start ASAP and will run until the end of this school year. There will be an opportunity for the chosen candidate to undertake a permanent role at this point.

Your role will be to provide support to a young child with Special Educational Needs, specifically Autism. You will work to ensure their learning needs are met, and help them develop their skills in communication and interaction.

Some information about the requirements of the role:

  • Working 1:1 with a pupil in Year 1 with Autism
  • In conjunction with the SENCo, developing strategies to support the child’s academic and social development
  • Working alongside the child’s EHCP Plan
  • Forging and maintaining a good school-parent relationship

It is always difficult to give a criteria of suitability for a role like this, because different people can bring different skills. Do any of these things apply to you, because if so this could be a role you’d suit:

  • A nurturing approach to working with students with SEND, and relevant experience
  • Experience working with Children in a Primary School setting
  • A Teaching Assistant qualification
  • A background in care work and experience working with children

The school we are recruiting for is a wonderful establishment, and with a new head in place they are looking to continue their journey towards outstanding. You will be aptly supported by a strong SEND team within school, lead by their Deputy Head.

Finally, our commitment to you is excellent service and excellent pay. Therefore, your starting wage in this role will be no less than £86 per day.
