Are you an experienced or newly qualified teacher looking for a rewarding new opportunity to support SEN learners?

Milk Education are in partnership with a well-established special school who cater to children and young people aged 5 - 16 years old with ASC and are seeking a highly effective and enthusiastic SEND Teacher to support the school in a range of sensory and therapeutic interventions and multi-disciplinary approach to meeting the needs of students.

The successful candidate will believe in the importance for students to achieve their full potential and offer a rich and stimulating curriculum that supports student learning in a well-established special school. The role will include working closely with expert support staff, as well as building relationships with parents, governors and the wider community.

Role of the role of SEND Class Teacher:

· Able to work creatively and collaboratively, making the most of the extensive resources and expert support we have available.

· To work closely with colleagues on the planning and implementation of the curriculum to ensure high quality provision throughout the school day, term, and year.

· To record and evaluate children’s progress using relevant evaluation procedures

· To be responsible for the managing of budgets, both for class and curriculum and for liaising with the Phase Leader on other areas of expenditure

· To communicate frequently with the parents and provide activities to help consolidate learning at home

· To liaise with/co-deliver sessions with a Multi-Disciplinary Tean, and outside agencies as appropriate, providing professional advice and feedback.

· To manage behaviour according to the school behaviour policy

· To ensure teaching and learning is delivered in a highly adapted manner such as using supportive technology, and multi-sensory and kinaesthetic approaches.

· To be fully aware of the school policies and procedures

SEND Teacher must haves:

· A teaching qualification recognised by the DfE.

· Training – special educational needs including autism or other relevant specialism

· A good knowledge of and commitment to the National Curriculum and the implications for students with special needs and autism.

· A sympathetic approach to parents and an understanding of the need for confidentiality
