Commercial and Procurement Associate (Associate or Senior Associate Level)Location: Newcastle upon TynePosition: Full-Time, PermanentAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and motivated Commercial and Procurement Associate, open to either Associate or Senior Associate level (4+ PQE), to join a leading UK law firm’s dynamic team in Newcastle. The firm boasts a thriving public sector client base, particularly within healthcare, infrastructure & projects, technology, and central government contracts, as well as a growing roster of private sector clients supporting public sector initiatives.The work undertaken by the team is essential commercial contract work for a range of public bodies, and the team regularly handles high-profile, cutting-edge procurement projects that often attract media attention.Key Responsibilities:
  • Advising clients on a broad range of commercial and procurement law issues, including drafting and negotiating contracts, frameworks, and agreements.
  • Supporting clients in navigating public procurement processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and advising on tendering and contract award procedures.
  • Providing strategic guidance on resolving contentious matters, working closely with internal teams as needed.
  • Building strong client relationships and offering commercially focused legal advice tailored to client needs.
  • Collaborating with the national team on complex projects to provide seamless, cross-jurisdictional support.
Who We're Looking For:
  • A qualified lawyer with 4+ PQE in commercial contracts and public procurement (open to either Associate or Senior Associate level).
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to identify critical issues in complex contractual documents.
  • A genuine interest in commercial contracts and public procurement, particularly in the public sector.
  • Strong client-facing skills with the ability to provide clear, commercially-focused legal advice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to work closely with colleagues in a national team across various offices.
