The OrganisationNigel Wright Group has been appointed to support a well established Public Sector organisation with the appointment of a Procurement Manager.The OpportunityThe Procurement Manager will be wholly responsible for:
  • Managing the Procurement Team, overseeing operational, day to day and strategic procurement activity
  • Leading, guiding and supporting the Team 
  • Developing and driving the Organisation's Procurement Strategy in line with wider organisational strategies
  • Managing a broad, varied portfolio of procurement spend across goods and services
  • Leading procurement activity on major strategic projects 
  • Fostering collaborative partnerships with key multifunctional stakeholders internally
  • Supporting and educating stakeholders, providing high level guidance and advice to the wider Organisation as to procurement best practice, communicating regulatory change and its impact
  • Managing and maintaining associated registers and systems (including tender and contracts' registers), identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies, ensuring compliance
About YouThe successful Procurement Manager will have/be:
  • An experienced MCIPS procurement professional with previous experience in providing effective leadership and management of a Procurement team 
  • Broad procurement background gained from within regulated public/utilities sector essential
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing Procurement strategy
  • Experienced in managing a broad category portfolio from minor to major procurements including, but not limited to – Engineering, Construction, Business Services, FM, Capex 
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills – adept at building relationships swiftly and with ease
  • Well-rounded communication and networking skills, engaging, proactive – confident to act as the Procurement figurehead
  • Supportive mentor and team leader
  • Flexible and agile – capable of both operating at a hands-on and strategic level
