RM Recruit are delighted to be working with a brilliant not-for-profit organisation based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme who are seeking a confident, resourceful Assistant Management Accountant to join their team on a full-time, 6-month contract basis. Our client is able to offer a flexible, hybrid working with the current office presence set at once per week and four days working from home.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts.
- Perform month-end duties such as journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing variance analysis against actuals.
- Assist in the preparation of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare financial reports and summaries for internal stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations.
- Monitor and manage the fixed asset register, including depreciation calculations.
- Assist with the annual audit process, liaising with external auditors as required.
- Provide support in the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and ensure accurate reporting.
- Support ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned by the Management Accountant or Finance Manager.
The ideal candidate will be ACCA/CIMA part-qualified or qualified by experience, with prior exposure in a similar role. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, along with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, is essential. A strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are crucial for this role. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently, are required.
