Position: Head of Finance

Location: Newcastle under Lyme

Salary: Circa £70,000 per annum

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to lead a talented finance team and deliver comprehensive financial support to both the organisation and its external clients. As a key member of the Leadership Team, you will manage a team of Finance Business Partners, working closely with senior leadership to drive the financial success of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the finance team to strike the right balance between robust financial control and facilitating growth and change within the organisation.
  • Provide strategic financial advice, guidance, and insights to enable business decisions that align with long-term objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial commentary, and annual financial statements for all entities under the group umbrella.
  • Deliver quarterly financial KPIs across various sectors, ensuring these are integrated into the overall performance management strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a strong financial control framework to safeguard the integrity of the organisation's finances.
  • Implement and manage effective treasury policies and strategies, ensuring sound financial management.
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships, including with auditors, lenders, and other key financial stakeholders.
  • Monitor and oversee medium-term cash flow requirements, ensuring liquidity and financial stability.

What We're Looking For:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification, with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and teams across the organisation.
  • High emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and the ability to motivate and lead teams at all levels, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities.
  • Experience in a leadership finance role, ideally within a similar sector (e.g., charity, social housing, or public sector).
  • An inspirational leader with the ability to empower others and drive performance.
  • Sound business acumen and commercial awareness to guide strategic decision-making.
