Inorganic / ICP MS Team LeaderType: Permanent Location: Newmarket Hours: Days (Mon- Friday)Additional: Company pension, life assurance, employee assistance programme, attendance bonusOur Client, a global testing company is looking to recruit for an experienced ICP/MS / ICP-OES Chemist to either step up to a TL level or will be in a similar position currently. My client offers rapid career development alongside the chance to work with the latest ICP technologies. The Role:• Supervision of staff to ensure the generation of accurate and timely data in line with client expectations and UKAS standards.• Maintenance of the Client Quality Management System including root cause analysis PT investigations and control chart monitoring.• Assistance in maintenance programmes for the Departments specific analytical instrumentation and any other analytical equipment used by the Department. Maintenance procedures shall ensureZ that instruments are kept in a clean and serviceable condition and that routine in house maintenance procedures are kept up to date.• Working knowledge of ICP-OES / ICP-MS and/or flow injection instrumentation is required discrete analyser and traditional methods experience would also be a bonus.• People management - responsibility for the team on a day to-day-basis i.e. sickness, back to work interviews, annual leave and productivity, task allocation/prioritization.• Overseeing: Maintenance, storage and labelling of adequate stocks of reagents, standards and consumables are all in control.• Managing the performance, training and development of staff and conducting their appraisals in line with Company policies and procedures. Areas of discipline considered to be outside of the responsibility of this role must be reported to the Divisional Manager.• To stand in for the laboratory manager in meetings etc. when required.• Control the Ordering of consumables and liaise with suppliers for alternative products when dispatch dates cannot be met.• Engaging with engineers when necessary ensuring that all the instruments are maintained annually (PM).• Maintaining and driving divisions internal targets and KPI targetsThe Person: • Will hold a Degree/ HNC or equivalent in a Science based subject • Significant experience using ICP-MS/ ICP-OES essential and experience in troubleshooting with ideally some method dev/ validation experience (desirable).• Will ideally have some experience in senior position or ready to step up.
