My client is a leader in the Testing Inspection and Certification sector. They are accredited for several methods based on UKAS 17025 accreditations. They are well known in the industry and currently have the need for two Team Leaders; one within the Organic Chemistry and one within Inorganic Chemistry.

My client has invested in their laboratories, with a spectrum of instrumentation in organic and inorganic analysis and they are a market leader when it comes to lean and efficiency principles backed up with good customer service.

Organics Team Leader
Inorganics Team Leader

The roles are located in the South East/Suffolk/Cambridgeshire areas.

The Team Leaders will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day technical aspects of the organics/inorganics team with accountabilities in:

Non-conformances
Dealing with customer queries on a technical front
Acting as the subject matter expert in the organics/inorganics arena
Troubleshooting of instrumentation, processes and methods
Maintenance of quality systems including root cause analysis
Assistance in maintenance programmes for the Departments specific analytical instrumentation and any other analytical equipment used by the Department
Maintenance, storage and labelling of adequate stocks of reagents, standards and consumables
Consultation with the Divisional Manager when turnaround deadlines cannot be met
Supervision of staff and ensure deadlines are met
Assist others in the performance of their duties if trained in that area of operation
Inorganic testing will include: Metals, TOC/TOT, Cyanide, LL Chromium, Borons
Organics testing will include: EPH, VPH, SVOC, PCBs, Phenols, PAH

Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field
Experience in organic chemistry/inorganic chemistry (whichever applicable) and laboratory techniques
You will need to be well versed in organic (GCMS/LCMS) or inorganic (ICP-MS/ICP-OES) techniques (whichever is applicable)
Troubleshooting of instrumentation, methods and processes
Knowledge of quality control processes
Analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Management and leadership skills would be an advantage but NOT essential
