A newly created Materials Management role working for this Suffolk based niche manufacturer. With an established market position and long-term customer commitments in place with a full order book, this role has been created to provide leadership for a committed cross-functional team. The key purpose is to manage and oversee all materials management activities, ensuring efficient and cost-effective procurement, storage, and distribution of materials to support production and meet customer demands.

Areas of focus will include: providing leadership and support to a small and committed purchasing team, taking ownership of the more complex and high-value purchasing requirements; implement cost reduction initiatives and track progress; continue to embed a culture of partnership with suppliers and drive innovation; ensure that inventory management levels are maintained and that control systems are fit for purpose; coaching and developing the team and ensuring a high level of internal collaboration.

Strong materials management experience from an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace or automotive background is essential aligned with a proven ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced working environment. With strong leadership skills, you will have exceptional planning and organising skills and be adept at problem-solving and utilising your initiative. Strong analytical skills are required with SAP experience highly desirable.
