Purpose of Role
  • To ensure accurate, safe and compliant stock logistics

Duties

Plan and organise shipments/deliveries

Plan and coordinate drivers, vehicles, load and journeys

Check load and safety of trucks

Supervise safety check on trucks and act on defect reports

Organises couriers by confirming delivery weight, size location and delivery date

Organising MOTs, services, tacho calibration and maintaining accurate records and returns.

Report all accidents to the companys insurers

Ensure that all picking orders are accurate and double checked

Organise customer collections and returns

Record and organise interbranch transfers


Customer Service

Provide a professional, friendly and helpful service to customers at all times.

Deal with enquires and provide information on products in a timely manner

Ring customers before delivery if their order is incomplete or if the delivery date changes

Cover the front desk and phones

Build effective and ongoing relationships with regular customers

Deal with complaints, escalating to the Assistant Branch Manager/Manager as required.


Teamwork

Support colleagues in providing a professional service to the customer

Support overall team performance. Be prepared to answer phone calls

Share knowledge and expertise on products and customers

Step in where needed to help assist with tasks to ensure that the branch runs smoothly, assist with warehouse duties if needed

Ensure that H&S policies and procedures are followed at all times

Working flexibly to ensure cover is provided when required

Serve at the front counter when needed


Requirements

Numeracy and literacy skills, educated to GSCE or equivalent

Experience of working in a building merchant or similar environment

Experience of stock control, transport and logistics in a branch

Working knowledge of health and safety legislation

Strong communication skills

Excellent organisation and planning skills

IT skills in Microsoft office including word and excel

Able to work on own initiative

Full driving license


Working Hours

  • Monday - Friday 0730 - 1630 with (1 Saturday per month 8-12)
