Operations Management Accountant

Hoop Professional Services and HR are delighted to be supporting one of our valued clients with their search for an experienced Operations Management Accountant for a 6-month Fixed Term Contract. This is a full-time position, that is based in Newport that offers hybrid and flexible working. This position comes with a salary up to £47,000 and 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays) plus many more great benefits. Responsibilities:
  • Deliver the full management accounting function for the operations directorate, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Support the annual financial planning process, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Produce and support monthly management accounts, forecasts, and performance reports, providing budget holders with clear insights.
  • Provide financial modelling and analysis to guide decision-making, coach stakeholders, and recommend performance improvements.
  • Foster a coaching culture, support transformational change, and drive continuous process improvement in financial management.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, risk management, data protection, contract management, and corporate governance policies.
  • Maintain balance sheet accuracy, ensure reconciliations, and safeguard the integrity of financial systems and cost centre management.
  • Review and validate financial transactions and reporting, advising on appropriate accounting treatment to ensure accuracy and transparency.
  • Provide expert support on finance frameworks, including the design and delivery of training, problem-solving, and stakeholder development.
Requirements:
  • Professionally Qualified Accountant (or equivalent)
  • Strong IT and Communication Skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, building trusted relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Resilient and detail-oriented, demonstrating commercial awareness, initiative, and a track record of driving service delivery improvements.
  • Experienced in financial systems development and utilisation.
  • Skilled in presenting and simplifying complex data.
  • Strong people skills, with the ability to coach, empathise, negotiate, and inspire colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrates high levels of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail in all aspects of financial management and reporting.
