Day-to-day of the role:
  • Supervise and support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom.
  • Encourage pupils to interact with their peers and participate in activities that boost their self-esteem and independence.
  • Apply strategies to foster pupil independence and self-confidence.
  • Provide effective feedback to pupils on their progress and achievements.
  • Occasionally support pupils with Learning Support Centre (LSC) needs.
  • Administer medication following appropriate training, in line with Local Education Authority (LEA) and school policies.
  • Assist the teacher by providing detailed feedback on pupils’ achievements, progress, and challenges.
  • Liaise with the classroom teacher to coordinate on short-term planning and specific learning objectives.
  • Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Support the implementation of school policies related to positive pupil behaviour and learning attitudes.
  • Administer routine tests and handle clerical and administrative tasks within the department.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a teaching assistant role or similar educational support capacity.
  • Strong understanding of classroom duties and pupil support.
  • Ability to work effectively with pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusion and pupil independence.
  • Capability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or child care are preferred.
