Company: Robert Half is exclusively recruiting a Finance Manager for our client, a growing business based in Newport. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career progression, with a clear route to becoming Head of Finance within two years.

Role Overview:

As Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the finance department across a wide range of financial and management functions. You will lead a small finance team, ensuring the department runs smoothly and meets all deadlines. This role is pivotal in providing financial leadership and insights to both the Finance Director and non-financial stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring all financial records are consistently accurate and up-to-date. Ensure that both internal and external deadlines are met, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Produce financial reports, specifically the management accounts.
  • Supervise the month-end closing activities, ensuring all relevant journals for accruals and prepayments are posted accurately and on time.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of financial data.
  • Assist with the preparation of consolidated group reports.
  • Take a lead on all audit processes, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with group requirements throughout the audit lifecycle.
  • Manage all tax-related matters, including VAT returns, corporation tax in collaboration with advisors, and ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Deliver various ad hoc reports, to ensure the business complies with its statutory obligations.
  • Provide additional support to the finance team when necessary, including tasks such as cash forecasting and profit and loss analysis. Offer guidance and development opportunities for team members, ensuring high performance and ongoing growth.

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
  • Previous experience in manufacturing
  • Proven experience managing and leading a finance team
  • Strong knowledge of ERP platforms
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Vlookups
