My client, a well-established Planning and Development Consultancy, is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Planner to join their dynamic team in Newport. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their career in town planning, contributing to innovative and impactful projects across the UK.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site research to support planning advice and strategy, including undertaking site visits.

  • Review planning policy documents and evidence bases to prepare clear and concise planning policy reviews.

  • Undertake planning history reviews.

  • Draft application forms, covering letters, and sections of planning appraisals/statements.

  • Assist in the preparation of site appraisals and planning applications.

  • Help coordinate client meetings and presentations to discuss project progress.

  • Maintain project documentation, reports, and correspondence.

  • Assist in the preparation of project sheets.

  • Support senior team members in preparation for planning committee meetings.



Qualifications & Skills:

  • A Master's degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.

  • Experience in town planning is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
