Join our dedicated team as an SEN Teaching Assistant in Newport, working with a SEBD PRU in the heart of Newport. This role will suit a candidate who enjoys forging strong relationships with pupils, working outside the box to engage with individual pupils working towards their education goals. Additionally, to this you will work alongside classroom teachers supporting in lessons

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs.
  • Provide tailored support to students, both one-to-one and in small groups, to help them achieve their educational goals.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Apply effective behavioural management techniques to help improve student behaviours.
  • Monitor and record studentsā€™ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably within an SEN setting.
  • Strong understanding of the educational needs of children with behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a compassionate approach to educational support.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education or Special Educational Needs are advantageous.
