Mechanical Design Engineer - Newton Aycliffe

Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with thorough 3D CAD software knowledge (Autodesk Inventor preferred), and expertise in drafting standards & technical drawing?

You will be designing & developing conveyor systems, for a market-leading UK manufacturer of conveyor systems & automated materials handling equipment.

This is a permanent opportunity in Newton Aycliffe, fully office based, offering a salary of 35,000-45000. Supported training opportunities are also on offer!

Main duties will include

  • Design and develop conveyor systems to specified brief.
  • Produce 3D models and technical drawings in accordance with company CAD standards.
  • Produce technical documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Manage drawings, bill of materials, and technical documents using company systems.
  • Ensure design compliance with project brief, relevant standards, and regulations.
  • Carry out technical analysis of designs with a view to improving DfMA and system functionality.

What skills will you have?

Must-have:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
  • 3D CAD software knowledge (Autodesk Inventor preferred)
  • Knowledge of drafting standards and technical drawing
  • Qualified in a relevant design or engineering discipline (HNC, degree, etc.)
  • Proficient at using Microsoft Office applications
  • Understanding of the design process, and its associated documentation

Desirable:

  • Good PDM system knowledge (Autodesk Vault preferred)
  • Basic understanding of electrical design principles
  • Good knowledge of conveyor systems and associated hardware
  • Basic knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

You will be working for a UK market-leading manufacturer on a salary range of 35,000-45,000 with a generous benefits package.

The working hours are from Mon-Thurs from 8am-4:30pm, with a 3:30pm early finish on a Friday! Additionally, you will get a paid 15-minute morning break.
