The Company you will be working for;

Our client is an established and successful company based in Newton Aycliffe. They are currently looking for an Estimator to join their team on a permanent basis. If you are interested and meet the person specification of the job role, please apply below.

The Role you will be doing;

  • Prepare accurate and timely estimates for custom manufacturing and fabrication projects
  • Interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and BOMs to identify scope and cost drivers
  • Use and improve our Excel/VBA-based quoting templates (full training provided)
  • Consult clients on requirements and conduct occasional site visits
  • Apply engineering judgment to estimate production hours and material costs
  • Document and improve the quoting process into a repeatable manual/checklist
  • Follow up on quotes and post-delivery feedback to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain and update the customer CRM/Quote Control Sheet
  • Collaborate with production, design, and engineering teams to confirm project feasibility
  • Support recruitment and mentoring of a future apprentice estimator

About you;

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in bespoke manufacturing or fabrication estimating
  • Strong engineering knowledge with the ability to assess production feasibility
  • High proficiency in Excel (including formulas); VBA familiarity is a plus
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication specs
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation ability
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
  • Capable of self-managing workload and meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Team player with mentoring potential
