Packaging Technologist

Location: Newton Aycliffe

Imperial Recruitment Group are working with INEOS on a exclusive basis who are looking to appoint a Packaging Technologist on a permanent basis

Main Purpose:

Drive packaging development initiatives by delivering packaging solutions within Innovation for NPD, EPD and retailer initiative projects alongside supporting the manufacturing teams in trial and production phases. The role will also support regulatory data collection and submissions

Duties:

  • Within the Stage + Gate process support the brand team with sourcing the right packaging solutions both for primary pack (bottle, cap, pump, label) and for outer packaging (cardboard cases, shrink sleeve, banded packs).
  • Work with 3P packaging suppliers to optimise packaging finishes (metallics on labels, label finishes, bottle finishes, types of cap, pump)
  • Support trial production on the line, ensuring packaging solutions are fit for purpose
  • Attendance at print trials for all Innovation led projects and changes
  • Cutter guide creation
  • Sizing, palletisation, case configuration for retail launches + database maintenance
  • Support with trade samples for retail partners.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with packaging suppliers
  • Packaging input and responsibility for technical aspects such as sizing, colour and finishes into artwork process - managing artwork through Webcenter (current artwork system)
  • Identification of cost saving opportunities across the packaging sphere
  • Specification development, management of database and packaging catalogue in partnership with our QA team
  • Support for supplier audits (alongside quality)
  • Pack stability + compatibility work alongside R+D
  • Regulatory packaging data gathering requirements + submissions across UK, France + Germany
  • Ensure excellent communication on all project matters, ensuring stakeholders are managed through to launch/launch evaluation.
  • Having an awareness of market and or external factors which may impact project delivery
  • Understand and deliver against packaging responsibilities within stage + gate process for each project.
  • Develop and communicate a timeline for all activities.
  • Gain agreement and ensure buy in to & delivery of the plan from the team.
  • Show accountability and can do attitude
  • Build relationships with packaging suppliers
  • Use these to understand where we can optimise what we have and where we can save cost.
  • Input into NPD team sharing of best practices.
