The company:
A bespoke Flexographic printing and Flexible Packaging Manufacturer that supply packaging solutions to a wide range of industries. They are now looking for a Finance Director to lead their Finance and IT, paying circa £100,000pa depending on experience plus bonus.
Job Title: Finance Director & Company Secretary
Number of Reports: Direct reports: 2 (1 in UK, 1 overseas), Indirect reports: 5 (3 in the UK, 2 overseas)
Reports to:Managing Director
Main Purpose: To strategically lead Finance and IT in line with the Group’s financial, accounting and IT policies establishing a financial framework for stability and growth.
Role and Responsibilities:
Provide an effective accounting system and a financial framework for the business
Ensure the company is compliant with all statutory requirements for PAYE, NIC, VAT etc.,
Oversee external auditing in the UK and Asia and ensure the company complies with financial standards.
Ensure Group Financial controls are in place and enforced to enable accurate and timely accounts to be issued.
Oversee the continuous improvement of accounting, financial and IT processes.
Statutory reporting
Production of year end statutory accounts in the UK
Oversee year end statutory accounts in Asia
Group consolidation and statutory disclosures
Foreign Currency translations
Produce annual statutory accounts and manage external Audit
Manage statutory financial reporting of 2 subsidiary accounts (dormant /small entity)
Publish management accounts which are timely, accurate and transparent
In conjunction with the Finance Manager produce the monthly accounts in the UK
Explain the variances to budget and forecast
Prepare the group consolidated monthly in accordance with current financial procedures and legislative requirements.
Work with key stakeholders to explain the results of the business and suggest improvements.
Review and develop key ratios, which provide a performance measure for the business (debtor/creditor/stock days)
Manage the company’s cash and currency policy
Manage and develop on-going relationships with the banks
Manage effective cash-flow forecasting to secure long term cash availability.
Establish a foreign exchange policy which meets the needs of the Group.
Manage currency levels through forward planning (hedging/forwards etc)
Provide budget and financial modelling which provides accurate, timely and transparent forecasting.
Produce Budgets annually including scenario and risk variants
Work with Directors to financially support a rolling strategic plan.
Lead forecasting and provide on-going expertise and analysis to the key stakeholders.
Develop Reporting & Improve product/customer Margins through accurate costing
Operational and Formal Board reporting to present key financial information to support the business strategy
Customer margin reporting
Produce costing rates annually and review if any significant business changes
Continuous improvement of costing information
Review of cost centres and highlight areas for improvement
Improve business information reporting to add value to the business
Manage the IT function which meets the current and future needs of the business.
Manage the IT function to promote and improve our ERP system (Radius)
Ensure data protection through robust backup systems, security systems and appropriate software is sufficient to protect the business from external viruses.
Ensure management information systems remain current for the needs of the business both now and for future growth.
Effectively manage and evaluate long term investments
Evaluate, assess and recommend financial options on potential capital investment submissions for production kit, MIS systems etc.,
Ensure assets are written down in line with business practices.
Commercial support on long term customer contracts
Define, document and establish appropriate company policies and protocols to ensure robust financial management.
Manage Financial corporate governance for the group, underwritten by the Board.
Manage the insurance renewal process in line with business expectations and legal requirements.
Manage and highlight company risk
Establish the policies necessary to achieve smooth running of the business, e.g. debit & credit terms, intercompany trading, transfer pricing etc.
Perform the duties required of a Director and company secretary.
Contractual compliance and safeguarding the company’s interests.
Company Secretarial Legal obligations across 4 companies
Execute the responsibilities of a Company Director in accordance with lawful and ethical standards.
Undertake any special projects as assigned by the MD in line with the role of Finance Director.
Establish and effectively manage high performing teams.
Establish objectives and targets in line with business strategy and regularly review performance in line with company’s process.
Provide coaching and mentoring by setting professional development plans to assist employees to reach their full potential through the performance management process.
Ensure the teams deliver the highest standard of departmental and inter-departmental teamwork and customer service (both internal and external).
Oversee the development of the teams with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.
Person Specification:
Experienced qualified accountant (preferably CIMA)
Manufacturing industry experience essential.
Experience of packaging industry optional but not essential.
Proven business acumen.

Foreign currency experience for international business.

Salary:
Salary circa £100k, 10% pension company pension contributions.
Up to 20% bonus - business target dependant
