Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Grays, Essex

Salary: 50,000 - 70,000 + car / car allowance + bonus + pension

Job Summary
Our client are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their established business which has been supplying contract kitchens for over 50 years to the housebuilders market.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the costs related to the construction projects for our high rise projects across London and the rest of the major towns and cities across the UK .

This role requires a strong understanding of cost control, budgeting, and financial management, ensuring that projects are completed within financial constraints while maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Calculating quantities and costs of material, time and labour
  • Negotiating and reviewing contracts
  • Assisting with compiling estimates and finalising budgets & margins.
  • Working across departments to ensure costs are coming in to budget and margin expectation
  • Readiness to support on site client face to face meetings to resolve disputes and negotiate unplanned works
  • Discussing plans and advising whether proposals will work within the planned environment
  • Preparing cash flow projections and controlling costs
  • Contractual oversight to ensure compliancy to client needs whilst maintainig profitability
  • Tracking and chasing retention
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication regarding costs and budgets.
  • Prepare tender documents and assist in the selection of contractors.
  • Evaluate and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and housebuilder clients.

Experience

  • Proven experience in cost control within the construction industry is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with various stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and manage a variety of service expectations
  • Strong numeracy, problem solving and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Must be from a Quantity Surveying by background, ideally with MRICS.
  • Housing/construction industry knowledge and experiece
  • Contract kitchens experience is prefered but not essential
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications for cost estimation and project management in particular microsoft excel.
