The School is a specialist SEMH school dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Food Technology Teacher to join our team on a part-time basis, working Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the learning experience of students, encouraging them to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen.

Job Purpose:

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons in food technology, tailored to the needs of students with SEMH. Your role will be to create a supportive and structured environment where students can develop both their culinary skills and broader life skills. You will work closely with other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver food technology lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages students to express themselves through cooking and food preparation.
  • Promote healthy eating, practical cooking skills, and an understanding of nutrition.
  • Support students in developing key life skills such as independence, responsibility, and confidence.
  • Manage student behavior effectively, ensuring a safe and productive classroom environment.
  • Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to both students and parents/carers.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Experience teaching Food Technology, ideally in a secondary or SEMH setting.
  • A strong understanding of the curriculum and the ability to adapt lessons to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH.
  • Passion for supporting students with additional needs and a commitment to their personal development.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a calm and focused environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage students and work collaboratively with staff and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to teaching and learning.
