The Local Authority has a need for a Year End Financial Accountant to assist with the Council's 2024/25 close down of the accounts and audit. Due to timing, it is essential the successful candidate has previous experience of closing and the production of the statement of accounts within Local Government and be able to start on short notice.
Key knowledge & experiences:
Up to date knowledge of the Code of Practice.
Preparation & production of core & supporting notes to the Local Authorities statement of accounts.
Balance sheet management and the reconciliation of key control accounts.
Collection Fund year-end accounting.
Preparation of Group Accounts.
Completion of robust and accurate supporting working papers to deadlines.
Liaising with external auditors and providing explanations & background working documents when required.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified with demonstrable extensive experience, will be strong technically, resilient to working within a changing team, together with the ability to organise, plan & deliver their own work to very tight timelines and have a good knowledge of the detail rather than co-ordinating the closure process. The candidate will need to be immediately available.
